Dillon, who directed as well as wrote "Party," has molded a nearly perfect cast into an ensemble whose playing is remarkably relaxed and unself-conscious. And as screamingly funny as Ray's ripostes are, they rarely achieve the epigrammatic elegance of Paul Rudnick's best dialogue in "Jeffrey." If "Party" is funnier than "Love! Valour!" it lacks the Chekhovian aspirations of its Broadway neighbor, which takes a more farsighted and sober view of Manhattan gay life in the age of AIDS. "Party," which arrives in New York after a two-year run in Chicago, will inevitably be compared to the Terrence McNally play, which is on Broadway six blocks to the north. Bales's performance in this scenery-chewing role is a comic tour de force equal in range and power to Nathan Lane's similar turn in "Love! Valour! Compassion!" Late in the show, he leaves the stage, only to reappear as the Singing Nun, wearing nothing but an improvised headdress. Ray will find any excuse to insert dialogue from "Gone With the Wind" or "Mommie Dearest" into the conversation. "Shame on you for the Oscars," Ray proclaims, pointing to a poster of Debbie Allen, who choreographed the opening number of last year's Academy Awards show. Kevin (David Pevsner), the host, is a college teacher who lives platonically with a younger man, Peter (Tom Stuart), in an Ikea-furnished Manhattan apartment decorated with posters from "Sweet Charity." The guests include the sexually freewheeling Brian (Kellum Lewis) the sensible, easygoing Philip (Larry Alexander) the enigmatic, leather-clad James (Jay Corcoran), and the naive young Andy (Vince Gatton), whose ignorance of the difference between a soundtrack and an original-cast album precipitates one of the play's most hilariously impassioned soliloquies. The group portrait presented by the play suggests a Christmas-card snapshot of a happy extended family. If the stridently witty chatter in "Party" recalls "The Boys in the Band," the homosexual self-loathing that seeped through the earlier play has dwindled into an undertone. Dillon's play, however, is much more buoyant.

"Party," which opened last night at the Douglas Fairbanks Theater, suggests a cheerier, mid-90's update of Mart Crowley's "Boys in the Band." The guests at a soiree devoted to an elaborate variation of the game Truth or Dare represent the same narrow cross section of middle-class, Manhattan-based gay white men that inhabited Mr.

Kian Alvane in Dreamfall Kian Alvane, the escaped prisoner of your dreamsĪt first glance, players of the episodic Dreamfall series might wonder why, in the game’s cutscenes, this playable assassin repeatedly ignores the romantic advances of his female admirer, Anna.Near the end of David Dillon's raucously funny comedy "Party," the noisiest of seven gay friends who have convened for an evening of campy repartee and salacious party games announces that the group is like "the Brady Bunch on Fire Island." His witty description of this combination gabfest and sexual show-and-tell is not far off the mark. His sexy east European accent, ability to dodge bullets with a ballet dancer’s grace, and snakelike tongue all add to his devilish appeal.

His creepy backstory, unfortunately, perpetuates biphobic tropes of sexual predation and queer villainy. After Dolph died, he developed a possibly sexual relationship with the commandant’s daughter - ew. Rumor has it that Vamp was also lover to a male Marine commandant named Scott Dolph. He survived for two days by drinking his family members’ blood, developing a taste for it. In his earlier years, a terrorist bombing trapped Vamp and his family under a church’s rubble.
